Hi! My name is Liza Butler :)
Hey everyone! My name is Liza, and I am a rising Senior here at UIUC. On the left is a picture of my roommate and myself on a basketball game day, go Illini! I'm from Collinsville, IL (about 15 minutes away from St. Louis)- home to the largest Ketchup Bottle in the world (lol). I am majoring in Sociology with a minor in History and Anthropology. After graduation, I want to continue my education in educational psychology or economic sociology (I am still pretty indecisive about this, but I'm super excited about both possibilities). I am very passionate about education structures, learning pedagogies, and how to make school systems more socially and economically equitable.
On campus, I am involved in a social sorority, which I have held the position of Assistant New Member Director and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair. I am also in the sociology honors organization Alpha Kappa Lambda. I am currently pursuing my Undergraduate Research Certificate, as another thing I am super passionate about is research!
In my free time I love spending time with my friends and pets, trying new restaurants (my current favorite is Shawarma Joint), and enjoying the outdoors. Let me know if you have any suggestions for places to watch the sunset around Champaign!! It's one of my favorite things to do :)

Some fun facts:
I have a dog (named Nebula) and two cats (named Ferguson- from "New Girl" and Iris) My favorite gen-ed I have ever taken at UIUC is Astronomy 100 I have worked at an outdoors summer camp for the past 5 years (some of the most fun I have ever had!) One of my favorite ways to kill time is playing Wii Just Dance with my roommates |
So if you read all of this info, it might mean that I am your LAS 101 instructor. If so, nice to meet you! I cannot wait to meet all of you (in person) on our first day of class, and I am so excited to see what this semester will bring all of us. I learned so much and made so many new connections from my LAS 101 class, and I can't wait to see you all do the same! Please don't hesitate to reach out- I would love to answer any and all of your questions (whether they be LAS 101 related or just about college in general)!
